NASA has delayed the rollout of Atlantis to Launch Complex 39-A from Tuesday morning until Wednesday at the earliest due to the approach of Hurricane Hanna. Hanna will be brushing past the east coast of florida on Thursday night and Friday. The current forecast calls for a chance of tropical storm force winds to impact Kenneyd Space Center. Shuttle managers are delaying rollout to give some additional time to assess whether or not it will be possible to roll Atlantis out before Hanna passes. NASa doesn't want to move the shuttle to the launch pad and then in a few days, turn around in panic mode to return the shuttle to the VAB to escape an appraoching hurricane. Instead, they will wait until tomorrow to see what the updated, more accurate forecast says.

Additionally, a new storm, Tropical Storm Ike, has formed in the central Atlantic. It's course may take it toward southern Florida early next week. That too, may prevent Atlantis' rollout.

There's also another storm forming even farther east from Ike, which is that last thing NASA needs to deal with.

You can get the latest hurricane forecasts at the National Hurricane Center's website.
