Flight Day 15: LANDING DAY UPDATES

Discovery is on track to come home to Kennedy Space Center today. The weather forecast calls for brisk winds at 14 knots gusting to 23, from the north almost directly down the runway at 350 degrees. Scattered clouds at 3000 feet are forecast, with no rain in the area. At 9:50 a.m. EST, the skies are clear and temperature is in the 60's. By landing time, the temp is forecast to be 69 degrees.

The deorbit burn for the first of two landing opportunities occurs at 11:59:12 a.m. EST leading to a landing at 1:01:50 p.m.

Sky conditions mostly clear
Temperature 64 F (18 C)
Dew Point 51 F (11 C)
Relative Humidity 63%
Pressure (altimeter) 30.1 in. Hg (1019 hPa)

Meanwhile, chief astronaut Steve Lindsey is in the Shuttle Training Aircraft checking out the weather conditions along the flight path Discovery will follow when it glides in from the northwest headed to a landing on Runway 33, the north-northwest to sout-southeast runway at KSC.
