04 a.m. EDT - EVA #4 officially began at 6:03 a.m. EDT when the two spacewwalkers put their spacesuits on internal battery power. The EVA should last approximately 6 hours and 40 minutes, but since Parazynski and Wheelock, as well as the rest of the STS-120 crew, has never practiced for this spacewalk, it could take a little longer or less time, but Mission Control alloted the standard 6 1/2 hour time block for the EVA.

20 a.m. EDT - Parazynski has secured himself in the potable foot restraint on the end of the OBSS and shortly will be getting the "ride of his life" up to the samged P6 array.

30 a.m. EDT - Parazynski is at the damge site on the P6 soalr array now. He's making a survey of the damage and describing it to the rest of the crew and ground controllers. He'll get down to the nitty gritty after assessing the situation and what's going to be required to fix the array.

05 a.m. EDT - The first cufflink is installed. Parazynski will have to cut away the frayed guidewire before installing the remainder of the braces. The damage is just about the "worst-case" scenario and won't be a matter of simply shaking the arrays to free up the snag.

55 a.m. EDT - Parazynski has cut the section of damaged guidewire free, along with a section of hinge wire and a grommet. To prevent the lower section of guidewire from zipping back into its spool at the base of the array too fast and possible snagging and causing further damage, Wheelock used a braking device to slow it down just enough. It appears that the guidewire retraction went without any complications or snagging.

55 a.m. EDT - All of the cufflinks have been installed and Parazynski and Wheelock are making a survey of the repairs to ensure that the straps and solar blankets are in a good configuration for deployment. Parazynski will be moved a short distance away for safety where he will monitor the deployment.
