The Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) is a NASA rover scheduled to be launched on September 15, 2009 and perform the first ever precision landing on Mars in July-September of 2010. It will carry more advanced scientific instruments than any other mission to Mars to date, including analysis of samples scooped up from the soil and drilled powders from rocks.
